Believe it or not Camp Rainey Mountain (CRM) is just around the corner. Here is some info to help you to begin planning.

-Troop 149 will be attending CRM beginning Sunday July 2 and ending Saturday July 8.

-Cost is $185.00 (if you stay on the pay schedule below otherwise cost is $200.00).

-Payment: We will be asking you to make three payments by the following dates (you may use your scout accounts in lieu of payment)
----1st payment due: Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - $65.00.
----2nd payment due: Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - $60.00.
----3rd payment due: Tuesday, May 30, 2006 - $60.00.

-You should also link to the program flyer and class schedule - these files have all the merit badge classes (and rank advancement classes - TNT) offered at CRM this year. Some MB classes are single periods, some are double periods, some are triple periods. Attending CRM is a great opportunity for you to earn many of the MBs that would be difficult to earn at home (i.e., swimming, rowing, canoeing, etc). Scouts are expected to be productive at CRM by taking advantage of a full array of MB and other opportunities (i.e., TNT, BSA Lifeguard, etc.) throughout the day. Scouts are encouraged to sign-up for MBs (and or other opportunities) that occupy at least 5 of the 6 periods. One period could be used for homework.

Complete the Sign/up and class request form and email or print and send it to Steve D.

Please remember a couple of items;
1) If you do not have First Aid or Swimming badges, camp is a great place to get them.
2) For Eagle required badges, there will be a further review by the Troop to insure that the work is completed to our standards.
4) We suggest that you plan on having classes scheduled for 5 periods out of the six. We find that one period off allows the boys to complete their homework and work on rank requirements for scouts not yet 1st Class.

WHERE: Camp Rainey Mountain, Clayton, GA. We have the Clarksville campsite reserved, which is our usual place. This site has adirondacks with bunk beds for sleeping, plus they will have to put up some platform tents for our additional members.

A pay phone is available, but only with adult supervision. Please do not ask or encourage your Scout to call home and do not send a cell phone to camp with your Scout! This tends to make homesickness more of a problem.

THINGS TO BRING ALONG:

Scouts and Adults will need a full medical examination. If you have had a Scout one done in the past three years, it is still valid (except for adults over 40!). (Check with the Scoutmaster if you're not sure.) Turn this in to the Scoutmaster before going to camp.
We need to know what medication your Scout is bringing. Medications will be held by an adult at camp. (exception for asthma rescue inhalers)
Uniform: Scout shirt, Scout shorts, Scout belt, Scout socks, Scout hat, Scouting t-shirts, including blue Class B shirt(s). The blue Class B shirts can be purchased from the troop. Current cost is $7.00.
Medical form (Class 1 and Class 2 or Class 3 is the scout is doing high adventure related activities), including insurance #, parents signature, and SS#
Extra clothing socks, underwear, shoes/boots, and other. It is especially important to have enough socks and extra shoes or sandals, so your feet stay relatively dry in case of rain! Open toed shoes (such as sandals) can only be worn at the water front or in the bath house.
Sweater or jacket (it does get cool in the evenings)
Sleeping bag and pillow
Poncho or rain gear!
Swim suit
Soap, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, other toiletries as needed
Towels
Scout Handbook, pens, pencils, notebooks, and Merit Badge Pamphlets for classes you're in
Money for crafts, Trading Post, snacks, etc.; some Merit Badges require money for supplies
Misc. like cameras, compass, knapsack, flashlight, non-aerosol insect repellent, sunscreen, pocket knives, fishing gear, etc.
There may be additional things needed for specific Merit Badges.
Adults camping with us may wish to provide their own tents.

Do NOT bring: cell phones, radios, tape players, electronics, sheath knives, things in aerosol cans, dangerous or non-Scoutlike stuff

The Boy Scout Office in Pendergrass is closed the week of July 3, so if you need merit badge books, uniform parts, etc., you should plan to get them before that week. Some items will be available at the CRM trading post, but supplies are sometimes slim.

PARENTS: Wednesday night is Family Night; if you'd like to come and visit (Campfire: 8:30 p.m.). Parents may take their sons out to eat (provided they check out at the Admin Building and are back by 8 p.m.) or may pre-purchase a meal at the Dining Hall.

I am looking foward to another fun and productice year at CRM and remember NO odd-primary numbers.
